Calling all actor/musicians!

AUDITION DETAILS

Piknik Theatre Company and Denver Theatre Ensemble are thrilled to be in partnership for two shows this season, and are announcing auditions for:

Romeo & Juliet

A Devised Piece (Title TBA)

These two shows will be cast and performed in repertory with an ensemble of 5 actor/musicians. Actor/musicians who feel comfortable jamming in band settings are highly encouraged to audition!

 

Available roles:

ACTOR 1: Female-presenting or nonbinary, 20s-40s

ACTOR 2: Female-presenting or nonbinary, 20s-40s

ACTOR 3: Male-presenting or nonbinary, 20s-30s

ACTOR 4: Role has already been cast

ACTOR 5: Role has already been cast

Exact role assignments/tracks within each show are to be determined after callbacks have concluded.

Actors of all identities & abilities are encouraged to attend!

AUDITION DATES:

Friday 3/13 5:00 - 9:00 PM

Saturday 3/14 12:30 - 4:00, 4:30 - 8:30 PM

CALLBACK DATES:

Friday 3/20 6:00 - 9:00 PM

Monday 3/23 6:00 - 9:00 PM

Auditions and callbacks will be held at the Aurora Fox Arts Center (9900 E Colfax Ave, Aurora, CO 80010).

What to Prepare:

For your audition, we ask that you prepare 1 Shakespeare monologue and 1 minute of a song (preferred genres: folk, bluegrass, rock). You are welcome and invited to prepare a contemporary monologue as well, but this is optional. 

If you are able to accompany yourself on your instrument, that’s great; if not, please be prepped to sing and play separately! Singers who do not play an instrument will be asked to sing a capella. All instruments are welcome! 

Auditions will include a quick get-to-know-you with the Artistic Directors of Piknik and DTE, Claylish Coldiron and Rhianna DeVries.


REHEARSAL/PERFORMANCE DETAILS

Rehearsals will take place in Denver, Colorado. After two weekends of performances in Denver, the company will move to Steamboat to perform for 3 weeks. Steamboat performances will take place Sundays - Thursdays, with weekends off. 

The Steamboat rehearsals and performances will primarily take place in an outdoor setting.

We are unable to offer Equity contracts at this time. 

Rate: $500 per week. Housing in Steamboat is provided. No per diem.
